TRADITIONAL TIBETAN MEDICINE
Diagnosis/Consultation in Tibetan Medicine
The diagnostic techniques include visual observation, touch and interrogation.
This involves checking a patient's skin complexion, the colour and texture of his/her blood, nails, sputum, faeces, and other general conditions. Special attention is paid to the condition of the patient's tongue and urine.
Traditional Tibetan Medical Treatments
Dietary and Lifestyle Factors At an immediate level, a disorder is primarily caused by an improper diet and/or lifestyle. In fact, a majority of health problems, both in developing and developed countries, can be either directly or indirectly traced to poor diet or lifestyle. Examples of this include alcoholism, hypertension and heart disease. The first form of treatment in Tibetan medicine is thus not medicines but changing a patient's diet and/or lifestyle. Only if this fails to remedy an ailment is the use of medicines considered.
Tibetan medicines take various forms, from decoctions, powders, general pills, precious pills, and syrups, and are prescribed in small doses -- a fact that reflects the emphasis Tibetan medicine places on gentle treatment.
Moxibustion and Other Treatments
Many disorders, caused by proliferation of bad blood and mkhris-pa are also treated by blood-letting at one of the body's seventy seven blood-letting points. For cold disorders, nerve malfunction and non-malignant tumors, moxibustion, golden-needle therapy may be used to stimulate the energy channels of the body. Many diseases of the nerves and muscles, as well as pain and insomnia related to rLung, are treated with gentle massage using various medicinal oils. Medicinal bath and natural spring baths are used to treat an assortment of skin disorders as well as chronic arthritis, gout and cold types of rheumatism, and rigid and stiffness of the extremities.

The stars and planets have always inspired a sense of wonder. Many cultures look skyward and see the face of the divine there. There's a cosmic dance on the grand scale, and one on the intimate scale, going on for each of us. Astrology is the study of patterns and relationships — of planets in motion, our birth chart, synastry with others, the make-up of elements — and using that knowledge as a tool to find meaning.
The Celestial Clock
Astrology's premise is that the planetary movements influence the Moments in Time. Since we're part of the story of the Universe, our moment of birth recorded on the celestial clock is meaningful. The planets continue to move, engaging with the fixed in time energies of our birth chart.
Students today can draw on the myths, symbolic associations and wisdom of past astrologers to come up with their own intuitive language. There are the long cycles of outer planets that show generational trends, and shorter ones, like the Sun's annual journey through the Zodiac.
Astrology is an incredible tool of self-discovery, no matter how far you decide to take it. At first, the pieces of the puzzle may not seem to fit. But if you stick with it, at a certain point it "clicks" and the orchestrations of the cosmic dance make sense.
If life seems like a series of meaningless events, astrology can be a comforting sign that perhaps things happen for a reason. It can shine a light on inner contradictions and natural strengths. As a map of the psyche, the birth chart is a guide to self-understanding that never stops revealing new layers of insight.
The Chemistry of Astrology
Astrology provides cosmic clues as to why you're attracted to, repelled by or indifferent to those you meet. It helps you take personality clashes less to heart, but also show potential red flags to watch out for. Some connections are sparked by friction, and astrology helps you take the long view, and see them as challenges that cause you both to grow.
What Are Other Uses of Astrology for Understanding Relationships?
Astrology can give you a deeper understanding of all your relationships — with bosses, siblings, parents, children, friends, and partners. Comparing a couple's birth charts alerts them to areas where their natures could come into conflict. Known as "synastry," this kind of analysis points out areas to challenge and support each other to fulfill your individual destinies. Astrology shows where karma is being played out, with hard but necessary lessons, and the potential for an alchemical miracle to take place over time.
REIKI & ENERGY HEALING
Reiki is made up of two Japanese words:
Rei (meaning 'Higher Power' or 'God's Wisdom') and Ki (meaning 'life force energy')
Reiki is a Japanese relaxation technique that promotes complete relaxation and stress reduction so that the body may heal itself. The idea is that there is an unseen 'life force energy' flowing through all living things. It is our life force energy that keeps us alive and in good health. When that life force energy becomes blocked, health issues are able to form and eventually erupt.
Think of blocked energy like a beaver dam. The dam changes the natural course of the water flow, impeding the flow, starving certain areas of the water needed to bring life to other life forces around it. Not only does the blockage cut off the life force from certain areas, it also swamps other areas causing destruction and chaos. In the same way, if our body's energy centers are blocked the normal and essential flow of Ki will send our body out of alignment and allow the beginnings of various diseases to form.
What happens at a Reiki session
The person receiving Reiki remains fully clothed and lies on a comfortable table while the Reiki practitioner lightly places hands in various positions on or near the body. The person usually experiences relaxation and peacefulness during the hour-long session. Shorter treatments can be given to a person in a hospital bed, recliner or chair.
How Reiki is Used
Reiki seeks to restore order to the body whose energy has become unbalanced. The healing energy of Reiki can be used to provide relief from conditions such as fatigue, pain, anxiety, negative side effects of treatments and medications, joint problems, and other ailments.
Reiki does not replace, but rather is easily integrated with any medical treatment and other therapies to assist in activating a persons inner healing potential. Reiki is now being used in a growing number of hospitals and clinics throughout the United States and throughout the world."
Issues Reiki Can Help
Reiki is used for body, mind and soul wellness. You may have a physical ailment that requires healing and it may be a result of a physical incident or perhaps an emotional one that has manifested into a physical condition. You may have an emotional or spiritual issue that needs to resolve. Reiki works on its own, knowing exactly where to go and what to do. A good Reiki practitioner knows this and trusts in being guided by the Reiki energy. Reiki can never be done for bad, only good. A true practitioner will allow the Reiki to flow as it needs to, and create a peaceful and healing environment at the same time. Reiki has been used for:
Stress Management and Increase Energy Levels
Boosting Immune Health
Dealing with Aches & Pains (Chronic & Acute)
Helping Body Heal Physically and Emotionally
Clear Energy Blocks
Pre and Post Surgery and Hospital Treatments
Cancer Therapy (helping with side effects of radiation & chemo therapy)
It has many uses and because it is so gentle it helps your body relax to the state it needs to be to do it's own self-healing and discovering of what needs to be healed.
